Your shower or tub just doesn't seem to drain like it used to. You already made sure there wasn't any hair sitting in the drain, what now?
It may look like there's only a strand or two clinging to the cross bars in the drain, but there's probably a lot more tangled up just on the other side. That last hair or two may be hard to get a hold of but it's worth the effort. If you need to, try using a toothpick to lift it off the cross bar enough to get a hold of it, then pull gently. You'll probably be surprised by how much hair and gunk comes up with it! Caution, it can be pretty slimy and smelly.
Another trick to try before calling in the experts is to stick something slender with a rough edge past the cross bar (the thin serrated blade from a multi-tool works great) and turn. This should grab onto any hair that's caught up right there. Whatever you use make sure you don't drop it down the drain! In some drains you can remove the cross bar with a pair of pliers - just make sure to put it back when you're done.
So you've cleaned all the hair away and it's still draining slow, what now? Do you call someone or dump in some drain cleaning chemical. Obviously we'd prefer you give us a call!
If you want to try the chemical route look for an enzyme treatment instead. Chemicals are corrosive and can damage your pipes while they eat away at a clog, if you've got older pipes that might already have issues it can cause some real problems. NEVER mix chemicals, the results can be toxic! If the chemical doesn't work it's time to call someone in. If you have used a chemical please let the drain cleaner know so they can take precautions if need be.
